Today we're learning how to install the SIGA Majrex smart vapor barrier like a pro. SIGA Majrex is a directional vapor control layer for interior roof, wall and floor structures.

How to Mount the SIGA Majrex Smart Vapor Barrier

For this application we are going to recommend SIGA Majrex.

The first step we are going to do for installing the Majrex is to take measurement across the length that we are going to install and we’re going to cut the Majrex.

Our dash lines are four inches apart that is our required overlap. The plus signs are 10 centimeters apart and to this dash line here from the next dash line is one meter. This helps with measuring in the field.

Majrex does transport vapor in one direction only so we always want the printed side facing in to the installer and the blank side facing into the wall assembly detail.

I’m going to make a cut into the Twinet at the top of where our membrane is going to fall and this will allow me to work at the lower portion as we work across. Take your knife blade get into just the backing to peel it off easily so that the adhesive is exposed.

Now that we have the Majrex positioned across the top of each row of Twinet. It’s beneficial to start in the middle, reach under the Majrex and pull the Twinet all the way down and pressing on firmly as I go.

So now I have the center stud pressed firmly into place I’m going to continue working out.

If you end up with too much tension and you’re not able to grab your Twinet you can reach down and work from the bottom
Now we are going to work on the top row. Pull the Twinet backing paper down to where I can reach from the ground.

Take the cut length of the Majrex and I am going to install it across the top. Start roughly in the middle pressing into place and continue to pull down the Twinet backing and work to the right and work to the left to secure the Majrex fully.
