Protests by farmers and Opposition parties intensified across India on Monday against contentious farm bills that have become laws now after President Ramnath Kovind's ascension. Various farmer groups called for a state-wide shutdown in southern Karnataka and demonstrations were held in different parts of the country, including capital New Delhi. India's Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Monday inaugurated the vaccine portal for Covid-19 to create awareness among masses. Indian population is still far from achieving herd immunity against Covid-19, the Health Minister had earlier said citing Indian Council of Medical Research's second sero-survey. Meanwhile, India's coronavirus case tally topped 6 million after it reported 82,170 new infections in the last 24 hours. Activist Anila Gulzar has urged the UN Human Rights Council to intervene to protect religious minorities from persecution in Pakistan. Speaking during the 45th UNHRC session in Geneva, she highlighted abductions, forced conversions and misuse of blasphemy laws against minorities in the country.
