Redmond is best known as the home of Microsoft and Nintendo of America. With an annual bike race on city streets and the state's only velodrome, Redmond is also known as the "Bicycle Capital of the Northwest".

Money magazine apparently loves this city, since it ranked Redmond as the 5th Best Small Town in America in 2012. Using independent research and FBI reports as their basis, Safewise says it's also one of the safest. Redmond's crime rate is “two times less than that of the rest of the state.” Redmond is a beautiful, calm, and relatively quiet place to live. It is pretty safe and has brilliant trees and open areas. Nightlife is poor; there are few good restaurants and not a lot of things to do. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet place - Redmond would be it!

Redmond offers high-tech and biomedical companies. Among these are Microsoft, Nintendo, AT&T, and Physio-Control. Redmond Town Center, a large downtown retail center, offers numerous shops, restaurants, three movie theaters, special events, and live performances by a repertory theatre company and other arts-related groups.
