In today’s video I answer all the questions I had while I was starting my prep for the BMAT in the hope that it will help you :)
01:54 What is the BMAT and who requires it? The BMAT is an entry exam that some medical schools in the UK require as a part of your application
02:33 What are the different sections of the test? The BMAT has 3 different sections:
1. Aptitude and skills
2. Scientific knowledge and applications
3. The writing task
03:37 Which universities use the BMAT?
Here is a link that will give you the full list of all BMAT schools in the world:

04:32 How important is the BMAT in my application? The importance of the BMAT will vary from one university to the other. However, consider this exam as your passport or your entry ticket to getting an interview invitation. So, in that respect the BMAT is very important in your application.
06:22 How long does it take to prepare the BMAT and when should you start? I would say that your prep should be separated into two parts:
Part 1 - loose revision (2 to 3 months): here you get to know the exam sections, you do untimed questions, you learn the content...
Part 2 - intense revision (4 to 6 weeks): here you do timed practice questions every day and mocks at least once a week
However, as we are all different, this can vary from person to person
08:59 When is the exam? For UK universities, the BMAT has 2 testing dates. One is September and one in November. If your university accepts it, I would strongly suggest that you sit the exam in September. This will ensure that you choose your schools while knowing your BMAT score.
10:58 How do you prepare for the BMAT? I worked 3-4 hours a day on the BMAT. Each day, I would do practice questions on 1 section of the test. Then, once or twice a week I would do a mock and take the time to really look at the corrections so I could understand my mistakes and improve. I also kept track of all the mocks I did.
The resources I used varied but I mostly based myself on the past papers to practice.
26:14 What grades do you need to get an interview offer? Again, this will vary from one university to the other as they all have different procedures concerning admissions. However, from the statistics released by the BMAT we can see that most students score somewhere between 3.5 and 5 in section 1 and 2. And, for section 3, test-takers usually get a 2.5A to 3A.
28:57 My mistakes and how you can avoid them
My biggest mistake was that I did not plan my preparation early enough. Therefore, to avoid it, you should really take the time during the loose part of the revision to prepare your revision :)

31:01 What to do on exam day? The most important thing you should do is: STAY CALM. I would also suggest that you visualise and remember all your strategies and techniques so you arrive in the exam room ready. It would also be smart to remember how much time you have per section so you can pace yourself during the exam
32:03 What to do after exam day? The first thing to do is to be PROUD and realise that you've made it! CELEBRATE! Then, you should take the time to write some notes about what you wrote in your essay. Some universities can ask you about it and it's always good to be ready ;)
If you've made it this far, thank you for your support and don't forget that what "makes you different, makes you beautiful"
