Join me for a behind the scenes video where I'm out in the evening photographing Red-Winged Blackbirds. It is a species I usually ignore because they are so common where I live. But I recently realized they are really beautiful birds that are a lot of fun to photograph this time of year (late spring). In the video, I'll give you some photography tips that revolve around how to get your exposure right and what to look for in order to get nice colours and backgrounds and not least interesting poses from the birds. Towards the end of the video, you'll see examples of the photos I took on this little adventure.
Wildlife photography gear I use in this video:
Nikon D850 Camera
Nikon 500mm Prime f/4G Lens
Feisol Monopod
Jobu Jr. 3 Gimbal Head
DJI Osmo Pocket

Who I am:
I am a passionate amateur wildlife photographer living in beautiful BC, Canada. I’m originally from Denmark, but I moved to BC in 2015. I photograph a wide variety of wildlife, but Belted Kingfishers have a very special place in my heart. Lately I’ve been spending more time in “stealth mode” using camouflage to conceal myself to the animals don’t change their behaviour do to my presence. It's waaaaaaay more difficult, and time consuming than simply walking around with your camera, but ultimately much more satisfying.
