Last year I completed a full scale LAWN LEVELING renovation on my lawn and wondered SHOULD I USE SAND OR SOIL?. I had 3 cubic yards of sand delivered to my home and immediately got to work with my LEVELING RAKE. The sand did an AMAZING job leveling my lawn but unfortunately when summer arrived , I started getting burnout next to my asphalt driveway. I made sure I kept the sand less then a half an inch and I was watering 1 plus inches every week. Here in Chicago we had several 100 plus degree days of hot weather without rain for more then 2-3 weeks at a time which COOL SEASON GRASS hates. I was a little nervous using sand at first to level my lawn so on the lawn strip next to the street, I used a 50/50 sand to soil mix. As you see in the video, I did not experience any burn out and it looks amazing. Today I am doing a mini/ touch up leveling project to cover any settling that may have occurred from last year.
