The construction works on the Astir section of Tirana’s "Unaza e Madhe" (the Great Ring Road) are part of a major infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic flow and improving connectivity in the capital. The works are progressing in multiple phases or "lots."

For instance, Lot 2 is nearing completion, with final touches being made on the sidewalks and landscaping, and asphalt work already started. The entire road is expected to be operational by the end of 2024. Lot 4, which includes the construction of a 420-meter-long bridge, is one of the more complex parts of the project due to the area's dense population and difficult geological conditions. This lot is scheduled for completion by summer 2024.

Once finished, the project will significantly enhance traffic conditions by connecting major national roads, such as those leading to Elbasan and Durrës, with Tirana, benefiting both commuters and businesses
