We all know that regular trains use CBC couplers derived from the Janney coupler to connect train cars. But why don't high-speed trains use this type of coupler? CBC couplers have gaps between them, which can affect the stability of the vehicle at high speeds. Therefore, they are only suitable for vehicles that do not travel very fast. Most high-speed trains use automatic couplers derived from the Scharfenberg coupler. They work by inserting a protruding cone on one side into a corresponding recessed cone on the other side and then rotating the coupler tongue 40 degrees counterclockwise, giving it a very stable coupling.
