Simple traditional Italian Almond Cookies.
Gluten free, easy cookies, Italian desserts
Food is so powerful...
Yes it fuels our bodies, can easily put us in a carb coma, or simply comfort us with a warm soup on a winters day. But its super power is the nostalgia it evokes.
For me these almond cookies are just that. There wasn’t a wedding, bridal or baby shower, birthday, confirmation, communion or party that did not have these on the sweet table while I was growing up. I think there is an Italian law making them mandatory!
So whenever I see or have these almond cookies, they remind me of family, love, laughter, music, funny speeches, drunk uncles, dads with terrible dance moves, heartfelt toasts, happy tears and traditions.
The fact that they are absolutely delicious and that their traditional toppings fit right in with the holiday season is a happy coincidence.
Is there a food that brings you back to happy memories?
