Hello everyone, I am restoring the Sega Dreamcast gamepad from TOPWAY.
It has very yellow plastic that needs to be whitened, it is also very dirty and some of the buttons do not work.
To begin with, we will disassemble it into separate parts and wash everything in soapy water, then we will wash the cable with isopropyl alcohol and a cleaning agent, because it is very dirty.
Next, we take 50% hydrogen peroxide and dip all the yellowed parts in it, turn on the ultraviolet light and leave it for 24 hours (for me, this time was enough to return the plastic to its factory appearance). We also unsolder the cable from the board and carefully insert the cable there.
I clean the board and all the traces with isopropyl alcohol. Using the flux, we replace the capacitors and restore the contacts that were damaged due to the old age of the board and also possibly my inaccuracy.
Behind the scenes, I checked that everything is working, then we can collect everything and enjoy this beauty.
I want to get the original Dreamcast gamepad somewhere and restore it too.
