The Amazon Rainforest has long been a massive stabilizing force in the fight against rising carbon dioxide levels. However, as temperatures continue to rise and the forest is cut down, the cycles that drive the rainforest's precipitation are threatened. There is a tipping point that, if crossed, will mark the beginning of the Amazon's transition from rainforest to savanna, leading to large losses in biodiversity and an acceleration of climate change. There are steps that can and must be taken as soon as possible to ensure the safety of one of the most important ecosystems on Earth.
