Demo of some gamelan software I was developing during my MA at Middlesex University, recorded 2008. The software takes a balungan (central melodic framework) and refers to a series of rules to generate the parts for the gamelan, which are played using samples of individual notes. Attentive listeners might notice that the peking wasn't quite working at this stage, along with a couple of other things (the kendangan in the suwuk, timing in general).
I don't have any plans to make this software available at this time, but am working on something similar with an emphasis on new composition for my PhD. I hope that at some stage that I will be able to develop something a bit more accessible.
I had uploaded this before but had some problems with the video.
