Welcome to the Honor Magic review!

I will go straight to the first big topic – which is the hardware, and it is… I called the Huawei Watch GT a fitness tracker on steroids – and it’s no different with the honor Magic. It has a lot more similarities with a smart band than a smart watch. Quite close to being a fitness tracker in the form of a good looking smartwatch.
Fabulous box – often the pricing that Honor have is a little better than Huawei, and I like much more the branding of Honor – probably the blue color, which is quite close to the channel style. Inside the box – there’s the watch, charging supplements and some papers – to bring you up to speed with the functionality.

The display of the watch is 1.2 inch – and the overall dimensions are at a smaller scale compared to the watch GT – smaller and also thinner – almost by a millimeter. Around 46 grams, waterproof for swimming – perfect! 32-bit single core CPU. 128MB internal storage, not user accessible – this space is exclusively reserved for the OS, and 16Megabytes RAM.
The most remarkable out of that is the quality – both of the build and the design. You can see the tachometer, the display is AMOLED, good colors, however not as vivid as the Watch GT by Huawei. The strap is brilliant – you get different color depending on the color scheme you choose, but material is soft silicon, lightweight, and very skin-friendly. Wearing 24/7 is fine and comfortable. Two buttons on the side. The top one is either home button or bringing you to the settings menu, the bottom one is programmed to launch the exercise mode. The screen is touch – swipe up for notifications, swipe down for access to the quick settings, left and right will bring you to fitness summary and heartrate info.
The battery is 180mah, almost twice less than on the Watch GT, and the expected operational time with everything ON is about a week.
Let’s talk about software. Checking through the settings – we’ve got quick access to most of the features, exercising, health tracking information, barometer, compass, weather assistant, even a flashlight app – which a few months ago I was laughing at, but now tend to use more often, because it is easier to access than the one on your phone. There is no possibility for navigation, not even possible to use waypoints, unfortunately. So you can mostly rely on the option to keep a record of your trainings.

The other half of the software is in your mobile – yeah – the smartphone app. It is called Health – by Huawei. Used by most of the fitness trackers and watches by both companies. So if you have watch GT and Honor Magic at the same time, you can switch between both and still keep everyday record of your fitness information.

No phone calls, no maps function, no waypoints, no speaker, no possibility to connect external devices, no access to internal memory – just to be proactive and respond to the possible questions that are about follow. But – brilliant build quality, decent battery life, waterproof for swimming, perhaps the best in class heart-rate measuring and sleep tracking, and a smartphone app which deserves admiration. This is the Honor Magic! Which we can most certainly say that feels like Huawei Watch GT lite edition – by being almost the same, with exception of a few components.
