Michael Byrd, Vice President, Channel Sales at Red Hat says openness and transparency in government has been a big priority for the last several years — especially in terms of data sharing.
The Federal Data Strategy calls for leveraging data as a strategic asset. COVID-19 is a perfect use case in how with the more data organizations share, the more important it will be for decision-makers, both in the healthcare and across government.
Byrd says he supports an open hybrid cloud model to approaching data compute. If you look at decision making, there's so many different footprints that occur across the infrastructure. Data pools are growing in such large amounts that organizations need to be able to move compute in decision making to where the data resides.
