Women are on the frontlines of the environmental and climate crises, with many risking their lives every day to access basic needs– like water, food, and fuel.
For Earth Day 2022, World Affairs celebrated the women leading the charge against global warming and our reliance on dirty energy. In this hybrid event, we hear from a grandmother-granddaughter duo and an environmental leader how each of us contribute to a more sustainable future.
Paola Gianturco, author-photographer, and Avery Sangster, her 14-year-old granddaughter, co-authored COOL: Women Leaders Reversing Global Warming. Paola has documented women’s issues in 62 countries for seven powerHouse Books.
Melinda Kramer co-founded of the Women’s Earth Alliance, a global initiative that invests in grassroots women's leadership to drive solutions to our most pressing ecological concerns – water, food, land, and climate.
