A BIAA Online Lecture by Douglas Baird (University of Liverpool) preceded by the Annual General Meeting.
What was life really like in a neolithic household? In this lecture, we will consider some of the recent evidence from Boncuklu (in the Konya plain of central Anatolia) for the nature of early sedentary communities, including insights into interplays between household and community and individual life histories and household histories. We will also look at the role of personal, household and corporate identities in the symbolic construction of community and how they may play a role in the development of early sedentary lifeways, the spread of farming and the development of social differentiation.
