Peter Pan Bus Lines is a highway coach operator in the northeastern states of the United States.
The company was founded as Yellow Cab Air Line in Springfield, Massachusetts. It was purchased by Peter Carmen Picknelly in 1933. The Picknelly family still owns the company. As "Peter Pan" by James Barrie was a favorite story of the Picknelly children, Peter Picknelly named his company Peter Pan Bus Lines, and named each bus he brought into his fleet after characters, locales or situations from the Peter Pan stories. These names appear above the service door on each coach.
Peter Pan had an affiliation with Trailways from the 1990s until 2005.
Takeover of Coach USA's Northeastern division
When Peter Pan took over Coach USA's Northeastern division in 2003, they acquired several companies:
The Arrow Line
Bonanza Bus Lines
Mini Coach of Boston (renamed Peter Pan-Boston)
Maine Line (sold to Cyr Bus Lines)
Pawtuxet Valley Bus Lines (merged with Bonanza Bus Lines)
Partnership with Greyhound
In the spring of 2008, Peter Pan partnered with Greyhound USA to form BoltBus, a discount bus line servicing the northeastern USA.
Later on, the two companies teamed up again to begin a Greyhound Express route from Boston to New York City.[1]
At the end of August 2017, Peter Pan announced its partnership with Greyhound would end the following month, invalidating tickets bought at Peter Pan booths for Greyhound and vice versa.
