Edit Photos in Final Cut Pro - LPT Guy's Final Cut Pro Shorts
Can you use Final Cut Pro to edit Photos? Yes, you can, and it does a great job. But why use Final Cut Pro? Why not a dedicated photo editing app, such as Photoshop, or Pixelmator. While FCPX may not be as versatile at editing still images as a dedicated image editing app, there’s a number of reasons you may want to use Final Cut Pro to edit your still images.
Reason one, is you already own Final Cut Pro. Instead of buying another app, such as Pixelmator, or paying a monthly fee for Adobe Photoshop, why not save some money and use what you already have.
Reason number two is familiarity. I, for one, is much more familiar with Final Cut Pro. In order for me to edit images in Photoshop, I would have to spend the time and learn Photoshop. Knowing how to use another application is a great skill to have, but a lot of us don’t have the time to invest in learning something new.
And reason number three is the powerful tools included in Final Cut Pro that can be used for photo editing. You can add text, titles and multiple layers to your image. You can also use one of the built in effects to change the look of your image, or download a third party effect. Final Cut Pro also includes some very powerful color correction tools, or you can download and install third party LUTs to make your image look exactly the way you want it to.
These are just a few of many reasons to use Final Cut Pro to edit your still images. Check out the included video, and follow the steps below for proper workflow to edit images. Following these steps ensures your photos retain the original aspect ratio, resolution and quality.
