At a privately run surgical facility in Calgary, Jason Copping, the Alberta health minister, announces a contract between the province and Canada Surgery Solutions that will offer more than 3000 hip, knee, and shoulder procedures a year. The minister is joined by Dr. John Cowell (official administrator, Alberta Health Services), Mauro Chies (interim president and CEO, Alberta Health Services), Dr. Jason Werle (orthopedic surgeon and section chief of orthopedic surgery, Calgary Zone, Alberta Health Services) and Dr. Mohamed Nanji (medical director, Canadian Surgery Solutions).
