Can the Quad Cortex Capture Pedals?
Full Video: [ Ссылка ]
Today I want to dive into the feature that convinced me to buy the quad cortex in the first place: pedal capturing. I don’t have a massive collection of drive pedals like some of y’all but the ones I do have, I love, so I was super stoked about the ability to put these tones into the Quad Cortex. These pedals are the: Jackson Audio Belle Starr, JHS Moonshine, and the Fulltone FD2.
If you don’t know how this works, essentially you create a new Neural Capture just like you would with an amp, but you’re using one of your pedals. The process is pretty simple once you plug everything in, but do note you’ll need a lot of cables. 1 from the guitar to the quad cortex, 2 from the quad cortex to your monitors, one from the quad cortex to the input of your pedal, and then one from the output of your pedal back into the quad Cortex. Thats 5 cables. So if you’re thinking about doing this at home, you’ve be warned. Once it’s all plugged in the quad cortex does its thing and then in a matter of minutes, you have your pedal.
Once your pedals are captured, you’ll find that they don’t sound tremendous, but that’s because you have to add an amp to the chain. Once you do that, to my ear at least, the captures are really really close. Is it an exact clone? No- but it definitely has the flavor of the actual pedal. I think generally speaking it seems like the Neural capture was slightly darker than the actual, and perhaps a touch more gainy. So to counteract that I played with the EQ a little bit to get a touch closer. But either way, I don’t think I’d hear this in context and be like, woah- that sucks. You must have captured your pedal. No. I’d be like, sounds good, and continue to move on with my life.
Let me know in the comments what you think of these neural capture drives. To me, I think they came out really nice and once again reinforce why I bought this thing. I can continue to expand and collect tones without increasing the footprint of my pedalboard. Be sure to like the video, subscribe, and I’ll catch you next time-
