Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic has met with rebel Serb leader Milan Martic under tight security at Knin in Krajina today. (Thursday)
The talks are expected to revolve around the Croatian army's rout of the Croatian Serb enclave in western Slavonia east of Zagreb.
Security was extremely tight for the arrival of Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic at the meeting with the Serb Krajina leader Milan Martic.
He was surrounded by soldiers as he made his way from his car to the meeting in the Croatian Serb stronghold of Knin in Krajina.
Inside he joined Milan Martic for talks on their response to the Croatian blitz on the western Slavonian enclave 100 kilometres (65 miles) east of Zagreb.
The enclave was captured by rebel Serbs in 1991 and was reclaimed in a series of swift attacks by the Croatians this week.
But retaliation was quick with the rebel Serbs launching missiles into the Croatian capital Zagreb killing six people and injuring hundreds more.
Martic and Karadzic sat next to each other in their second meeting of the week- yesterday's meeting was in Banja Luka in northern Bosnia- to discuss their joint military strategy following the week's violence.
The two self proclaimed Serb states were formed in opposition to independence moves of Croatia and Bosnia.
But now their leaders are finding they are under increasing military pressure as tensions continue to rise in the former Yugoslavia.
