This is the horrifying moment a passenger plane burst into flames at Muan airport in South Korea.

At least 177 people died when the Boeing 737-800 flight operated by Jeju Air veered off the runway and hit a wall, before suddenly catching fire.

The plane had just arrived from Bangkok in Thailand when the crash occurred.

No cause has yet been determined, but emergency services suggested birds could be to blame…

South Korea has a good safety record with passenger flights and this is now the worst aviation disaster in the country’s history.

The CEO of Jeju Air bowed in apology before giving a press conference on Sunday.

Two members of the flight crew have been pulled from the wreckage alive, but the majority of the 181 people on board have been confirmed dead, with emergency workers removing bodies throughout the day.

Both black boxes containing the plane’s flight data have been recovered, but the investigation into what caused this tragedy could take years to conclude.
