The Queen has appeared on the balcony at the Buckingham Palace balcony to take a salute from soldiers involved in the Trooping the Colour ceremony.

Crowds packed along The Mall cheers as the monarch appeared alongside her cousin the Duke of Kent, Colonel of the Scots Guards.

After 70 years of service for the country and Commonwealth, well-wishers are taking to the streets over the extended bank holiday weekend to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The once in a lifetime event will see members of the monarchy and people from all parts of the UK gather to recognise the Queen’s legacy.
