Workers began to move the New Safe Confinement (NSC) into position to cover the destroyed Chernobyl reactor No.4 in order to protect it from leaking radioactive material, Monday.
The arch-shaped 109-meter-tall and 250-meter-wide metal sarcophagus will help to prevent the leakage of radiation from the reactor,which was destroyed in a catastrophic thermal explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant 30 years ago. (MANDATORY CREDIT: Bouygues Construction)
