I’ll also prepare a quick spicy remoulade dipping sauce to serve alongside the fried green tomatoes that is the perfect spicy, tangy accompaniment! I’ll share the secret to ensuring the green tomatoes stay nice and crispy while frying and give tips on how to extract as much liquid as possible prior to coating the tomatoes in my homemade breading blend. Speaking of, the breading has a mix of seasoned Louisiana fish fry, cornmeal/corn flour, and panko breadcrumbs! Hope you enjoy this classic southern recipe!
INGREDIENTS
Green tomatoes
Salt
Cooking oil
Parsley (for garnish)
Breading Blend
1 cup Louisiana fish fry
1 cup cornmeal/corn flour blend
½ cup panko breadcrumbs
Pinch of salt
2 eggs, whisked (pinch of salt/pepper optional)
1 cup flour (unseasoned)
Spicy Remoulade Dipping Sauce
2 TB mayo
1 TB cajun sauce
1 tsp horseradish
1 ½ TB brown mustard
1 tsp fresh minced garlic (or to taste)
Dash of hot sauce and worcestershire sauce
1 TB honey
Black pepper (to taste)
1 tsp smoked paprika
⅛ tsp salt
1 TB lemon juice
1 tsp cayenne pepper (or to taste)
