Dominique Bela, VoicesofAfrica mobile reporter in Douala, Cameroon ( 21 October 2008) Cameroon's armed forces on Sunday stopped an attack by a Bakassi based group on a trawler, the Cameroonian defence ministry has announced.
Known as Bakassi Freedom Fighters, this rebel group has also claimed responsibility for the killing of a sub-prefect in Bakassi in June 2008. It says it's fighting for the emancipation of the peninsula.
The group has announced more attacks in the future if the government does start negotiations on the fate of Nigerians living on the peninsula
