Senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh CM Digvijaya Singh will contest Lok Sabha elections from Bhopal seat, which has seen BJP candidates winning for nearly 30 years. "He (Digvijaya Singh) said you decide where should I contest from, so I decided. I said contest from Bhopal," CM Kamal Nath said on selecting the constituency for Singh.

Haryanvi singer-dancer Sapna Choudhary on Saturday joined the Congress party, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. According to reports, she will contest against Bharatiya Janata Party's sitting Member of Parliament Hema Malini from Mathura. Choudhary was inducted into the party at the Delhi residence of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Raj Babbar, reports added.

While the party announced ally LJP's Chandan Kumar will contest from Nawada and Chirag Paswan from Jamui seat, it has dropped leaders like Syed Hussain Shahnawaz and Shatrughan Sinha.

After Kerala Congress unit chief Mullappally Ramachandran said that Wayanad will be party President Rahul Gandhi's second Lok Sabha seat, party's national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said Rahul will "positively consider" contesting from the seat. "We thank them for their effort and also their expression of love and affection," Surjewala added. Rahul is also contesting from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
