Neuroscientist Dr. Michael Merzenich answers questions about his new book "Soft-Wired" at the Anat Baniel Method Center in San Rafael, California, on September 21, 2013.
A fundamental part of the process of brain health is getting the system to perceive differences. Is that correct?
Dr. Michael Merzenich explains the importance of perceiving differences, which is also central to the NeuroMovement approach of the Anat Baniel Method. He notes that variation is key; it is much better to practice a movement 1,000 different ways than to practice the same movement over and over.
Dr. Merzenich also describes how the brain is continually associating information, generating correlations (what goes with what). Physical movement cannot be separated from the brain.
