The Stadium of Domitian in Rome, built in A.D. 92-96, has a hairpin shape with one straight and one curved end. It was made of concrete faced with travertine and had arches interspersed with columns in the manner of the Colosseum. The outline and dimensions of the Stadium have been retained in the Piazza Navona, developed by Pope Innocent X and the Pamphili family in the 17th century and still one of Rome's most celebrated piazzas.
