In June 2017, the Hush Foundation launched its National Composers in Residence Project, bringing together the artistry of six of Australia’s top composers and six emerging composers in an ambitious project that engages with adolescent patients at children’s hospitals around Australia.
Twelve composers worked together with Dr Catherine Crock AM and hospital clinicians to engage with young people with chronic illness and mental health challenges and offered them the chance to participate in the project by sharing their stories to inspire the composition of new music.
In this video Stuart Greenbaum, composer of The Rotation of the Earth, and Caerwen Martin, composer of Stars Come Out in a Midnight Sky, talk about the experience of composing for this challenging and inspiring project.
