A complex of defoliating insects is the most common pest encountered in Illinois soybean fields and is commonly targeted with insecticide applications. This session will explore the relationship between insecticide residual activity, levels of defoliation observed in Illinois and throughout the Midwest, and the timing of insecticide applications. In addition, results
from the first year of a dectes stem borer survey in southern Illinois will be discussed, along with management options for this insect.
