In this video I talk about some issues I have had using the Kuat NV 2.0 bicycle carrier. It is somewhat of a review, but the main focus is about two main problems:
1. Bicycle fitment. This will vary based on bicycle manufacturer, model, and size. The issue I had is that two similarly sized bikes have interferance with the seats and handle bars. This situation can cause damage to your seat while traveling if a seat and handlebars/controls come into contact. The alternative is that you transport the bikes with the seats lowered/dropper post compressed. I consider this to be a design flaw.
2. Hardware becomming loose after light use. The main bolt used to fasten the pivoting portion of the carrier had to be tightened after a short time. This has happened twice at the time of this video being posted. The nut supplied by the manufacturer is a self locking/nylon variety but this has not prevented the problem. Other factors could be contributing to this. I may try the use of loctite, or another method on the fastener.
Overall this carrier will probably be suitable for many people. However, those that intend to use the carrier off road, or on rough roads will likely have similar results.
Kuat does specify that the carrier is not for off road use. Unfortunately those of us who travel over rough terrain are currently have limited options.
Consider your vehicle setup and use case.
