"I Puritani was Bellini’s final opera and work, composed and premiered in Paris before his untimely death at the age of 33. Riccardo – a puritan – is engaged to Elvira, daughter of the Plymouth fortress commander. But she is in love with another, Arturo, a Royalist. Eventually her father agrees to allow her to marry her love. At the wedding in the fortress, Arturo promises to free the widow of Charles I, Enrichetta, who is imprisoned in the fortress. Arturo helps her escape in disguise wearing Elvira’s bridal veil, but Riccardo catches them as they flee…"
Welshman Owain is owner of Backspace, chiropractic clinic in Clapham and a Registered Doctor of Chiropractic. He studied piano and sang in choirs at school, but only revisited serious singing in 2013. Since 2018, Owain has studied opera at Morley College, and in December 2019, he gained a place at Trinity Laban Conservatoire to study a Masters in Vocal Studies from September 2020. His singing teacher is Neil Baker and his coach is Panaretos Kyriatzidis. In 2019, Owain sang the role of Antonio in SPO’s Le Nozze di Figaro, and will sing the role of ‘Mr Gedge’ in Albert Herring.
