There is Hope! Matt Kornegay, Founder of Reach Recovery shares his story of how he overcame his chemical addiction to heroin for 10+ years. His story gives the necessary key elements and components that it takes to live a successful and sober life free from drug abuse and heroin addiction.

Before describing the new things, Matt first shares how he spent his mid-teens to early twenties making bad decisions chasing drugs and alcohol. At 23 years of age, he made a life-changing decision to serve Christ and change from his old ways.

For the last 10 years, he has been in recovery.

How do you describe recovery?
Matt describes recovery as a life-long process. It's not something you can just switch on and off as you please. The process of recovery has to be worked at daily, consistently, and faithfully.

Can you give us examples of what has been made new for you?
1) Spiritual life -- the most important thing made new is my spiritual walk with Jesus Christ. It is the main contributor to my successful walk in recovery.
2) Family -- they help you to overcome obstacles by believing in you. Before his new life, Matt lied and used family members, but now he has a fresh start.
3) Career / Job -- having a steady job has helped me to achieve and overcome obstacles while learning to be persistent in my work ethic.
4) Future Goals & Outlook on life -- having short-term and long-term goals has helped me to be successful in my walk of sobriety.

How did all things become new?
I entered a faith-based Christ-centered regeneration program for addicts. The program was six months long and allowed me to take a look at my life and the decision I had made previously. During this time, I surrendered my life to Christ and have walked daily in His power as it keeps me free from addiction, specifically heroin addiction.

If you put 100% into the process, you will get 100% out.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" 2 Cor 5:17.
