Updates on K2 missing climbers Pakistan’s Ali Sadpara, Iceland’s John Snorri, and Chile’s JP Mohr were last seeing on Feb 5th at around 10 am, near the Bottleneck, a steep and narrow gap just 300 meters far from the 8,611 meters high K2 summit.
The government and other stakeholders are still employing their best efforts to find Muhammad Ali Sadpara, john Snorri and Juan Pablo mohr who went missing on Feb 5th during a K2 summit expedition.
Sadpara's management, which operates his official Twitter account, on Monday announced that a meeting of the apex committee regarding the missing climbers' search and the rescue operation will be held on Feb 17, 2021, in Gilgit. Please avoid any premature statements and keep away from fake reports, the management said. Sadpara's management apologized to the public for not providing frequent updates regarding the k2 missing climbers on Sadpara's official social media accounts, adding that the management team was "too focused on search and rescue operation efforts to pay attention to anything else.
The management expressed its gratitude to people for their love and support but stressed how fake reports regarding the missing climbers caused distress to everyone related to Sadpara.
The fourth member of the k2 missing climbers’ expedition and the only witness to the climb was Ali Sadpara’s son, Sajid, who had to abort the mission and descend because his oxygen regulator breaks down while the team, was at the Bottleneck.
Earlier, while speaking to the BBC, Sajid said, his father a famous mountaineer and high-altitude porter was encouraged by the success of the Nepalese climbers and wanted a winter summit for Pakistan under his belt because “K2 is our mountain.”
“I assume they continued for the summit push and either they were caught by the cold and wind or they ran out of oxygen, or they fell down together from the same rope and got into trouble.
I hope mountaineering people have learned more lessons from this expedition, and they will be more secure on their coming expedition. Let's hope and pray Ali sadpara, john Snorri and Juan Pablo will be found soon.
