The minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola claimed that the presidential candidate of APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the February 25 presidential election because the presidential candidate of Labour Party Peter Obi and the presidential candidate of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and presidential candidate of NNPP, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso divided the PDP votes that could have given the party victory if only one of them had contested the presidential election.
