The Government has launched a review into the roles of physician associates (PAs) and anaesthesia associates (AAs) following concerns about patient safety.

Led by Professor Gillian Leng, President of the Royal Society of Medicine, the review will examine how these roles impact safety and support health teams, including GPs. It will also provide recommendations for their future use, with findings expected in the spring.
