Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) affects an estimated 1.3 million adults in the U.S. — and women are 3 times more likely to develop it. If not managed effectively, it can get progressively worse. Some of the joints affected include the hands, shoulders, feet, hips, knees, and wrists. Patients can experience pain, aches, tenderness, swelling, and morning stiffness.
While there is no cure for RA, it is possible to slow or stop the progression. We’ll meet Shirley whose life was impacted by the disease, and Dr. Latisha Heinlen of Rheumatology Associates of Oklahoma to learn more.
