British Navy vessels patrolled waters around Jersey on Thursday as dozens of French boats gathered near the island's main port in protest over post-Brexit fishing rights. The protest followed French threats to cut off electricity to Jersey, a self-governing British island off the tip of northern France. The dispute erupted after Jersey implemented new requirements requiring French fishing crews to submit their past fishing activities in order to receive a license to continue operating in Jersey waters.
