Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we're looking at the Malone RunWay max four bike rack here on a 2017 Toyota RAV4. So the Malone runway is a really cool bike rack from Malone, where it has a bunch of different cradles for your bikes, as well as a cable lock, as well as a stabilizing strap and allows you to carry around four different bikes. If you've got your friends and your family and your RAV4 and you're ready to go for a ride, you can bring all of your there and your bikes. Okay, let's take a look at the way our bike is mounted to this bike rack.
So we have one, two and three points of contact. So the top two are right here and they're holding down the frame. So when you wanna take off your bikes, you would actually go to this third point of contact, which is our anti-sway cradle. So as you can see, as I try to sway our bike, it's really holding that frame in. And then when I pull on this rubber strap and put that to the side, you can see the big difference that makes.
So let's take the other two straps off. So you are, since these are rubber straps, you do need to like pull on them tightly. And it can, if there is require a little bit of extra muscle, which can also be good, because then you know that your bikes frame is secure. All right, with those release, you can then lift up on your bike and then bring it through the arms, just like that. And then you're ready to go on a bike ride.
And with a bike out of the way, we get to take a closer look here at our cradles and our straps. So we have these grooves here on the inside of our cradles, and that's gonna help with your brake lines on your bike. You also have these rubber straps that wrap around that frame and into these tabs, note how you have two different tabs on each side of the cradle. That way you can kind of pick and choose which one fits best on your bike. So there's one, two, three straps.
And I do recommend as you use this bike rack, please try to stow away those straps. Even if you don't have any bikes on that way, they're not flopping around as you drive around. Also kind of like how you rotate your tires, you can also rotate your straps. Like if you're using this cradle a lot, you can just switch the straps with that cradle and this cradle just so that they can live to their maximum life. All right, this has a weight capacity of 33 pounds per bike. The distance between the cradles is going to be seven inches apart. So that's hopefully gonna help you out when trying to figure out the best fit for your bikes. With these cradles all the way out, we can see here at the end, we have these keys. Now these keys are for the cable lock. So this cable lock goes around your bike, into your bike rack, and then you can lock it into place. You also have a nice little plastic reflector here in the back just to keep you visible on the road. Now, whenever you have a bike rack on your vehicle, there's gonna be some extra light added to the back of it. So let's take some measurements. Measuring from the rear bumper of our RAV4 to the end of the bike rack, right over here. It sits at about 40 inches. So that's a fair amount of, that's actually a lot of length added to the back of your RAV4 but you are carrying around four bikes. So whenever you're backing into your garage or trying to park into a really tight spot, try to remember that measurement to help you gauge how much distance do you get to work with. Now as for one of its features, is that you can fold those arms down for when you want it to be a little bit more portable. To do so, you pull this clip just like that. And since it does have a string, that's going to help you up. Then you pull this pin, you may need to lift those arms to pull that pin. And once that pin is out, you then just lower those arms and then line up that hole and put that pin back in to place. And then you use this clip to secure it. All right, just like that. So if you want to go around town, you're not planning on taking your bikes out, but you also don't want to seek your bike rack off. This is the great portable position for it to be in to keep it nice and compact. So we'll take some measurements. Here's a see exactly how compact is it. So from the bumper to the end of the bike rack, we have a link from that strap of about 13 inches added to the back of the vehicle. The closest point is gonna be our mass right over here. So tha
