UOB22 team from the University of Balamand has established an eco-friendly solution which is our ticket towards sustainable construction. 3d printing is by itself a highly advantageous methodology towards the environment and the construction industry as a whole.
Adjusting the mortar mix by replacing up to 50% of cement by supplementary cementitious materials that are industrial by-products and fully replacing natural sand by recycled sand gives the mortar mix a further eco-friendly aspect.
The challenge lies behind introducing structural steel bars to reinforce 3d printed modules that are then bonded by a metakaloin based geopolymer grout.
Structural recycled 3d-printed concrete is a competitive promising concept and can be the future of the construction industry.
