LEGO Star Wars UCS Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder (75341) Stop Motion Speed Build
G’day everyone, I know I missed May the Fourth with this upload, but I can only build so fast! And, contrary what I may have implied through the trickery of editing: this is not a quick build technique. In fact, it’s quite possibly the slowest way to build Lego I can think of! But I do enjoy it, so that’s good enough for me. And hopefully you too!
[hint for the LEGO group: maybe you could send me some stuff early and so I can film it for the big day!]
I know the announcement of Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder earned a few eye rolls (and memes), but I’ve genuinely been looking forward to this one for a while. And wow, was it worth it! It is a great looking set. Highly detailed and very sleek looking. This thing looks like it was meant to cruise around the Tatooine Desert a few feet of the ground.
Sure, I’d prefer more printed parts instead of stickers, and maybe another minfig or two (Old Ben and R-2), but those are my only gripes. This set is amazing.
The build is very interesting. Lots of cool techniques and a few times I was wondering why certain parts were being used, only for it to pay off in a big way later. My favourite technique was for the nose section connection. Check it out in the video: initially it’s just clipped to the rest of the body by a couple of ball joints, before plates are added to hold it firmly. It probably could have just been plated on, but this was way cooler!
For those with the patience to watch all the way through, firstly: thank you!, and secondly: I apologise for the flicker, especially on the engine sections. This is the first time I’ve tried building during the day (#parentlyfe) and I’ve discovered our curtains aren’t great for blocking the sun. It was an overcast day, constantly going from sunny to cloudy, and it shows in some sections. Now I know for next time!
Thanks all for watching!
