This is a DANGEROUS REPAIR. DO NOT ATTEMPT. Do not ever defeat any safety mechanism unless you know the repercussions of doing so, and can still maintain your own personal safety.
Coming from the safety third guy, that's saying a lot. Safety third is a joke of course, safety third implies that you can protect your own personal safety to some degree in the event of failure or deliberate disengagement of a safety device. This goes hand-in-hand with knowing not to do something stupid: You wouldn't stick your hand or foot under a running lawnmower, and you wouldn't knowingly place your hand on a hot burner on the stove. Accidents can and do happen of course, so bear that in mind.
I really like these appliances from Aldi, I've purchased quite a lot of them. They are cheap and cheerful and do the job, they are really inexpensive and all work perfectly. Even though they are China pride, Aldi offers a 2 or even 3 year warranty on them, which in my opinion is saying a lot.
With plastics like this, they are bound to break. Proving cheapness in design, the plastic tab that engages the safety switch on this food processor snapped off at an inopportune time while making dinner. I wasn't going to let that stop me making dinner, so I immediately brought it downstairs, opened it up, and did emergency surgery, disabling the safety switch. That means this food processor can now run happily without its cover, and will be *more than happy* to chop your fingers off if you ask it nicely enough. Safety third!
