Music, joy, tradition, energy and lots of excitement, gathered in a place that represents a little piece of Germany in Brazil. This is Oktoberfest Blumenau, the second largest in the world and the largest in the Americas!
Since the first edition, in 1984, when 102 thousand people passed through the old Proeb Pavilion A, now Parque Vila Germânica, the event has shown that it is here to stay and go down in history. Currently, the festival lasts 19 days and with each passing year, it surprises and delights visitors.
The Blumenau Oktoberfest is a festival of Germanic traditions that takes place in the city of Blumenau in Santa Catarina, in the southern state of Brazil, during the month of October. It is one of the celebrations that emerged around the world similar to the Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany.
In German, "Oktober" means October, and "Fest" means party or festival. In Brazil, in addition to those that take place in Blumenau, Oktoberfest also takes place in Itapiranga in Santa Catarina, in Marechal Cândido Rondon, Pato Bragado and Rolândia in Paraná, in Igrejinha, Santa Cruz do Sul and São Lourenço do Sul (Südoktoberfest) in Rio Grande do South, São Paulo in São Paulo and among other cities. In Santa Catarina there are also numerous other German festivals in the month of October, such as "Fenarreco" in Brusque, Bierfest in Joinville, Schützenfest in Jaraguá do Sul, Kerbfest in Cunha Porã and Kegelfest in Rio do Sul.
It is considered one of the biggest German festivals in the Americas, the biggest German festival in Brazil and is one of the biggest Oktoberfests in the world, along with the Oktoberfest in Kitchener-Waterloo in Canada and behind the original in Munich. The Blumenau Oktoberfest is held at Parque Vila Germânica, located in the Velha neighborhood, lasting 18 days.
