Speed Skydiving (SP)
The objective of speed skydiving is for a competitor to achieve the highest average vertical speed through a 3 second window. At the time of this recording, elite level speed skydivers are reaching speeds over 520km/h (320mph). Jumpers exit from a standard altitude between 13 (visual 3,962 meters) to 14 thousand feet (visual 4,267 meters) above ground level. No speed measurements are considered below 5,600 ft. AGL (1,707 meters). This ensures everyone has enough altitude to slow down before deploying their parachute. Each competitor is equipped with an official GPS tracker that records their performance. The accumulated total over 8 rounds determines the winner.
