Supreme Court On PMLA: The Supreme Court reaffirmed the principle that “bail is the rule and jail the exception” even in cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), while granting bail to Prem Prakash, an alleged aide to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The bench, comprising Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan, clarified that Section 45 of the PMLA, which sets stringent conditions for bail, does not override this fundamental legal principle.
