Unfortunately, we had to hike up on separate days because we decided that taking the kids on our backs was not safe (or fun for either of us). It ended up being a great decision..... that trail is full of steep stairs, switchbacks, slippery and loose rocks, and even a rickety bridge. The views on the way up are almost as amazing as those at the top. There are so many side fortifications to explore and even informational boards along the way. Well worth the hike up, just make sure you bring plenty of water and sunscreen!
