In this video you will see me catch a really big slot snook on a live pinfish. Afterward I demonstrate how to make monofilament leader with 4/O circle hooks and 40lb test fluorocarbon. You will also see how the pinfish are hooked as well as me catching a couple of really nice sized gag and black grouper.
I generally fish around some type of structure for snook. I'm fishing the live bait in this video around rocks. The same method of free-lining pinfish can be used on beach shores and around bridges. Live shrimp are an excellent choice of bait for snook too.

Here's something you can always count on, just find some rocks like I'm fishing in this Youtube video and there will be something that will eventually bite your live bait. In the location in the video there's actually a very large grass flat that is just off to the side of where the rocks are and a deep channel. This is the perfect recipe for large fish to reside in.
There are schools of live bait that circle around the entire area throughout the day. The best time to fish for snook with live bait is early morning, early evening and at night.
I use to fish for snook with shrimp more than pinfish because of the location trying to catch them in. I've found that the best live bait to catch snook on when fishing around jetty type inlets or rocky locations is pinfish.

Additionally, you will see that I catch two really nice size grouper, one gag the other black. One of my specialties is being able to get fish out of the rocks when they get stuck in them. In this video I have to wait patiently for a black grouper to come out of the rocks just enough for me to be able to pressure him out, without breaking the line.
