Dublin is the home of many whiskey distilleries, there’s much more than Jameson… Pearse Lyons Distillery is located in Liberties, in the Golden Triangle with the other whiskey distilleries. Even before entering you can guess that you'll have a unique experience because the former St. James’s Church is the home of the distillery. If you were wondering, the church is not a museum, it’s the actual distillery. The renovated interior is magnificent with stainless steel windows, chandeliers and a wooden roof structure.

During the tour, we learned about the history of the church and the graveyard, the lengthy renovation and the process of whiskey making. We could also smell the ingredients and the whiskey from different phases.

During weekdays, the machines operate in the distillery, so get ready for some noise. If you prefer silence, schedule your visit for a weekend.

More tours and experiences are available. You can also try the Gin School Experience or the Irish Coffee Masterclass. The Cocktail Experience is currently unavailable due to some renovations.
