Coronation Street star Kym Marsh spills secret behind Pat Phelan shoo**ng

CORONATION STREET star Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor, has revealed the secrets behind last week’s dramatic Pat Phelan shooting.

During the tense Coronation Street episodes aired last week, Kym’s character, Michelle, was shot on her wedding day by Pat Phelan.

With the barmaid’s life now hanging in the balance, the actress has revealed how the brutal scenes were filmed.

“It was a long couple of days on set but fun,” she said in her latest OK! Magazine column.

Explaining how she got blood on her wedding dress, Kym spilled: “I couldn’t wear a blood pack [a device designed to release fake blood on cue] in my dress because it was too tight.

“Instead, I had a sponge filled with fake blood in my hand that no one could see that I squished against myself.

“There was a special-effect squib that they put on a pole behind my back too, so that when Pat Phelan shot me, it fired blood up the wall. I was covered in blood all day!"

The tense scene came at a cost as Kym admitted she was “uncomfortable” during filming.

“The dress was tight and I was slumped own the floor for most of the time so it was uncomfortable,” she added.

Meanwhile, Kym, 41, spoke about another Coronation Street storyline in her latest column.

The beauty revealed Antony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully, will be involved in an upcoming plot where he’s sofa-hopping and homeless.

Speaking about the storyline, Kym said she has never been in that position but understands it’s a serious problem.

She said: “I’ve had times that were hard and I’ve been on the dole and rented places that I wouldn’t want to live again.

“But I do know that homelessness is a serious problem and I see it all the time when I go into Manchester.”

The actress admitted she was glad the ITV soap was tackling another sensitive issue.

She continued: “I’m pleased that Coronation Street is highlighting such a serious issue and I know that Antony will bring a real sensitivity to the subject.”
